Itinerary

A 5-day journey through Rwanda’s cultural capital and primate-rich Volcanoes National Park, featuring gorilla trekking and a Kigali city tour, starting and ending in Kigali.

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
  • Afternoon/Evening – Arrival: Arrive at Kigali International Airport (flight TBA), meet your representative for VIP assistance with visa clearance, and transfer to the hotel (15 min drive) in Kigali, known for its post-1994 progress and safety.
  • Overnight: Hotel des Mille Collines (4-star) – millecollines.rw

Day 2: Full-Day Kigali City Tour
  • 09:00 AM – City Tour: Breakfast, explore Kigali starting with a hike up Mount Kigali (~1 hr) in Nyamirambo for city views and local community interactions. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial to learn about Rwanda’s history, followed by lunch at Hotel des Mille Collines (famous from Hotel Rwanda). Continue to Kimironko Giant Market for local produce and crafts, and, if time allows, visit the Rwanda Art Museum, Rwanda’s only contemporary art gallery.
  • Overnight: Hotel des Mille Collines

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
  • 09:00 AM – Departure: Breakfast, drive to Volcanoes National Park (3 hr) through scenic rolling hills, coffee, and banana plantations. Check in and spend the afternoon at leisure.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
  • 06:30 AM – Trekking: Breakfast, head to Kinigi park headquarters for briefing (7:00 AM). Trek one of ten habituated gorilla groups (2-6 hr, 1 hr observation) with rangers, observing behaviors like feeding and play. Afternoon at leisure.
  • Overnight: Ingagi Park View Lodge
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 5: Transfer to Kigali
  • Morning – Departure: Breakfast, pack, and drive back to Kigali (3 hr). Time permitting, stop for shopping or sightseeing en route. Drop-off at Kigali International Airport for the outbound flight.
