Itinerary

A 4-day adventure from Kigali to Uganda’s Bwindi National Park for gorilla trekking and cultural experiences, with a return to Kigali or Entebbe.

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali Airport
  • Afternoon/Evening – Arrival: Arrive at Kigali International Airport, complete visa processing, and meet your driver/guide. Transfer to hotel (15 min drive) in Kigali, a vibrant city known for its safety, post-1994 progress, and Hotel Rwanda fame.
  • Overnight: Hotel des Mille Collines (4-star) – millecollines.rw
  • Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi National Park
  • 09:00 AM – Departure: Breakfast, drive to Bwindi NP (Rushaga sector, Uganda) via Kyanika Border (30 min from Ruhengeri, requires East African Visa). Enjoy views of Kisoro hills and Lake Mutanda (3 hr drive).
  • 03:00 PM – Batwa Trail: Check into the lodge, have lunch, then take a guided Batwa trail walk to learn about the Bakiga and Batwa Pygmy communities.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi National Park
  • 07:00 AM – Trekking: Breakfast, head to Bwindi park headquarters for briefing (8:00 AM). Trek one of eight habituated gorilla groups (2-6 hr, 1 hr observation) with rangers, observing their behaviors like feeding and play. Afternoon at leisure.
  • Overnight: Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4: Transfer to Kigali or Entebbe
  • Morning – Departure: Breakfast, drive to Kigali (5 hr) or Entebbe (7 hr). Stop at the Equator for photos and shopping. If returning to Kigali and time allows, visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Drop-off at Kigali or Entebbe International Airport.
  • Meals: Breakfast
