Itinerary

A 2-day tour from Kigali to Bwindi, Uganda, for gorilla trekking. Stay at a lodge like Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge. Includes a 4×4 vehicle and Uganda’s gorilla permit. 

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali Airport
  • Afternoon/Evening – Arrival: Arrive at Kigali International Airport, complete visa processing, and meet your driver/guide. Transfer to hotel (15 min drive) in Kigali, a city known for its safety, post-1994 progress, and Hotel Rwanda fame.
  • Overnight: Hotel des Mille Collines (4-star) – millecollines.rw
  • Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Day 2: Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Kisoro
  • 08:00 AM – City Tour: Breakfast, enjoy a short Kigali city tour, including the Kigali Genocide Memorial to learn about Rwanda’s history and resilience.
  • Afternoon – Transfer: Lunch at a local restaurant, then drive to Kisoro, Uganda, near Mgahinga Gorilla National Park via Kyanika Border (30 min from Musanze, requires East African Visa). Enjoy views of Kisoro hills and Twin Lakes (4 hr drive).

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi National Park & Return to Kigali
  • 07:00 AM – Trekking: Breakfast, head to Bwindi National Park headquarters for briefing (8:00 AM). Trek one of eight habituated gorilla groups (2-6 hr, 1 hr observation) with rangers, observing their behaviors like feeding and play.
  • Afternoon – Transfer: Return to lodge to refresh, then drive back to Kigali (arriving early evening, ~5 hr). Flights should be scheduled after 8:00 PM if departing the same day.
  • Overnight: Check out of the Kigali hotel (if staying)
  • Meals: Breakfast
