When Travelling to Rwanda and have a limited time or conferencing and don’t wish to miss the gorilla trekking experience it possible to be done in One Day from Kigali.
Leave Kigali early enough for Volcanoes National park located in Ruhengeri now Musanze, Northern western Rwanda. Drive time: 2-3 hours and enjoy a scenic drive of picturesque country side. Meet the park official at Kinigi and briefed, allocated to a gorilla family to visit and the actual trek commences at exactly 8:00 am.
Gorilla trekking in Rwanda today may take 2-6 hours and it covers the 1 hour of magical encounters. After you get back to meet the driver guide and be transferred to Kigali and it marks the end of a 1 Day Gorilla trekking in Rwanda.

Day 1: Kigali – To the Volcanoes National Park.
3 Hours Before Flight Time
Our Driver Guide will meet at your Hotel in Kigali very early in the morning at 04:30 am, greetings – short briefing and immediately transfer to the Volcanoes National Park.
The drive is through beautiful rolling hills, awesome landscape, bypassing coffee and banana plantations on a
comfortable paved road and is approximately 3 hours from Kigali to the Volcanoes National Park Headquarters.
Today, your gorilla trek is sure to be the highlight of your tour. You will be at the Kinigi ranger station by 7:00am, whereyou allocate guides and briefed before heading into the forest. We will track one of the 10 habituated Gorilla groups in Rwanda. You will then move in a company of experienced ranger guides through the forest while searching for mountaingorillas. Only eight people are able to track each habituated gorilla group. Time taken while searching for these greatapes, between 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorilla groups.
After the Gorilla trekking, you will meet your driver guide ready at the parking site, get some refreshing time, then drive back to your Hotel in Kigali or at the Airport for your late evening outbound flight.
You will be picked up from where you will be staying (hotel) as early as 4:30 for a 2 hours picturesque drive to Volcanoes national park in Musanze province, home to endangered mountain gorillas.
On arrival in Ruhengeri, proceed to the park headquarters at Kinigi (21 minutes’ drive) for briefing by the park warden about the dos and don’ts during trekking, along with your packed lunch and trekking gears, you will be transferred to the trekking starting point after you are allocated a group.
Gorilla trekking may last from 2-6 hours depending on the movements of the mountain gorillas. On meeting the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend an hour as you get to see their behaviour while taking photographs.
Return to the starting point and meet your driver. You will embark for lunch at Migano Restaurant /Coffee in Musanze. After lunch, drive back to Kigali city to where you will be staying or proceed for a drop off at the airport for a scheduled flight back home.
