Itinerary

A 7-day adventure through Rwanda’s primate-rich national parks and cultural sites, starting and ending in Kigali, with scenic drives and immersive experiences.

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
  • Afternoon/Evening – Arrival: Arrive at Kigali International Airport, meet your English/French-speaking driver/guide for a brief, and transfer to the hotel (15 min drive) in Kigali, known for its post-1994 progress.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
  • 09:00 AM – City Tour: Breakfast, enjoy a Kigali city tour, including the Kigali Genocide Memorial to learn about Rwanda’s history and resilience.
  • Afternoon – Transfer: Lunch at Hotel des Mille Collines (famous from Hotel Rwanda), then drive to Volcanoes National Park (3 hr) through rolling hills and coffee plantations. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
  • 06:30 AM – Trekking: Breakfast, head to Kinigi park headquarters for briefing (7:00 AM). Trek one of eight habituated gorilla groups (2-6 hr, 1 hr observation) with rangers, observing behaviors like feeding and play. Afternoon at leisure.
  • Overnight: Ingagi Park View Lodge

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
  • Morning – Departure: Breakfast, drive to Nyungwe National Park via Karongi along Lake Kivu (5-6 hr), with lunch en route. Enjoy scenic views of tea and coffee plantations.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking & Nature Walk
  • Morning – Chimpanzee Trek: Breakfast, drive to Nyungwe for chimpanzee trekking, tracking endangered Common Chimpanzees (~400 in Rwanda).
  • Afternoon – Nature Walk: Lunch at lodge, then hike to Kamiranzovu waterfall or explore the forest, spotting birds and biodiversity.
  • Overnight: Nyungwe Top View Lodge
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 6: Canopy Walk & Transfer to Kigali
  • Morning – Canopy Walk: Breakfast, embark on the Igishigishigi trail canopy walk (90m above ground) to observe primates, birds, and orchids.
  • Afternoon – Transfer: Return to lodge, refresh, then drive to Kigali (5-6 hr). Evening at leisure.

Day 7: Transfer to Kigali International Airport
